Group Study Room Policy

The University Library provides group study rooms to currently enrolled Georgia State University students, faculty and staff.  The primary purpose of these rooms is to provide a place for students to engage in collaborative and cooperative study in small groups.  Permanent assignment of rooms is not made to any particular academic group or social organization.

• Some group study rooms are available for drop-in use and do not require a reservation. Other group study rooms require a reservation which is via the online reservation system at http://www.library.gsu.edu/roomres.  Reservation procedures are available on this web page.
• If a group study room has been reserved, at least two people in the group must be present the first fifteen minutes of the reservation hour.  A group that is more than 15 minutes late for their reservation forfeits their reservation.
• The time limit for group study rooms is three (3) hours per day per campus ID.
• Reservations can be made up to three weeks in advance of the reservation date.
• Study groups must consist of two or more persons.  An individual can use a group study room, but only if no reservation is currently in place for that room.  A patron may not reserve a group study room for individual study.
• An individual must vacate a group study room immediately if a study group asks to use it.

Cooperation and courtesy are appreciated.  If you are unable to resolve a dispute over use of a room, you may seek staff assistance at the Research Support Desk.  Patrons who intentionally and repeatedly violate this policy risk being banned from reserving a group study room for one semester.
