Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETD) Database

The majority of Masters Theses, PhD dissertations, and undergraduate Honors Theses submitted after December 2004 are available through the GSU Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Database. There, you can browse available ETDs, or search by author, title, advisor name, or keyword. You can also find ETDs in the GIL Online Catalog. Most of the ETDs are available worldwide; some, however, are limited to the GSU community. If you are not affiliated with GSU, you may request a restricted thesis or dissertation via the interlibrary loan department of your home library.

For Students Writing a Thesis or Dissertation

You may upload your thesis or dissertation only after it has been approved by both your committee (for content) and your graduate school (for formatting). When your ETD has been approved, you will receive a departmental user name and password allowing you to access the ETD database.

Complete instructions are located on the ETD-help page.

Frequently asked questions are located on the ETD Resources page.

ETDs & Copyright

You retain the copyright to your work. When you upload your thesis or dissertation to the ETD database, you grant GSU Library the right to preserve and provide access to your digital document. These are the same rights that the University Library retains for paper theses and dissertations. Prior to electronic theses and dissertations, one paper copy was stored in the University Archive, for preservation purposes, and one copy was made available to the public. (The public can view the paper copy of a thesis or dissertation by visiting the library in person, or requesting the work through interlibrary loan.) Dissertations completed after 1996 are also available via the UMI Digital Dissertations service for online viewing or print-on-demand.
