Search Tips
-
If using more than one word, choose "any of these" "all of these" or "as a phrase" from the drop down menu.
-
Do not use articles (A, AN, or THE) as search words.
-
To search for all feature film movies, narrow your limits to video recording and use the keywords "feature" and "film"
-
To search for a specific eBook (such as ebook no. 7), use the keywords "ebook" and "no. 7"
-
When looking for digital media such as DVDs or CDs, type digital as one of your keywords and avoid having to narrow your limits
-
For a list of BOOKS ON TAPE, limit to sound recording and use the keywords "audio" and "book". This will give a partial list. The best way to do an audio book search is to limit to sound recording and type in the author's name as a keyword anywhere search term. For example, typing in Hawthorne will yield several results including The Scarlet Letter.
-
If any items match the search, a list of applicable titles will appear. Item availability is listed under status. "Not Checked Out" means that the item is available. Clicking on the item from the title list will provide a brief display of information. If the item is "Checked Out", the brief display will indicate a due date under the status.
Using quick limits under the exact search:
-
Quick limits only work on media for exact titles of video recordings (there are no quick limits for other media fields)
-
Do not use the exact search unless you know the exact title. Leave off a beginning "a", "an", or "the". Other than that the title you enter must be absolutely exact or you will yield no results.
-
Click on exact search
-
Click on title search
-
Set your Quick Limit to the right on "video recording" (Please note that quick limits only work on title searches.)
-
Type your title in the search field
-
Press the Go button to see your search results
