About the University Library

The University Library has a unique role in the life of Georgia State University. It is the only facility that is truly universal on campus. It is the heart of the university. The University Library not only houses resources, our faculty and staff take an active role in the life of the Georgia State student. Classes are held regularly for information literacy, research skills, and the Internet. Each program is useful for entering students as well as nontraditional students.

The University Library houses over 1.5 million volumes, subscribes to more than 7,700 serials, and is a Federal Document Depository with more than 804,000 government documents. With the recent building expansion and increased use of the Media Center, we have obtained over 24,000 audio, video, and multimedia materials. The University Library also has access to Galileo, an on-line resource indexing thousands of periodicals and journals. Contributions to the University Library have allowed us to obtain all of these resources for our student body and community patrons who rely on us.

Many of our donors have a special relationship with the library and believe strongly that support of this facility helps the students of Georgia State University as well as the surrounding community turn information into knowledge.
