The Map Collection includes: primarily sheet maps and atlases with a few CD-ROMs arranged by the Library of Congress classification system. All are listed in GIL, the library's online catalog.

  • Base and thematic maps and atlases
  • Access to ArcView 3.2 GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software
  • Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps for Georgia (digitized images, microfiilm, and 19567/57 Atlanta in hard copy - See Guide )
  • Numerous CD-ROM's from agencies such as the US Geological Survey, and Departments of Interior, Energy, and Transportation

Additional materials are located in the U.S. Government Documents Collection and arranged by the government's classification system.

ATLANTA RESOURCE

Aerial Survey of Atlanta, Georgia, 1949 at http://www.library.gsu.edu/maps/aerialatlas1949/index.htm These pages contain scanned images of 124 aerial photographs (43 x 80 cm, scale 1"= 200'). The images were scanned as GIFs at 150 dpi, converted to JPEGs, then linked to an index map of Atlanta (c. 2001) in HTML format for use on this site. This project was funded by the William Russell The University Library in June 2001. Published for the Atlanta City Planning Commision by Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation, Lansing, Michigan U.S.A., 1949.
