Civil Rights Era Photographs On Display At The High Museum
The Road To Freedom is the name of the photographic exhibit now on display at the High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta. GSU's own Dr. Doris Derby is one of the featured photographers. The highly acclaimed exhibit runs June 7th through October 5th.

"The Civil Rights Digital Library (CRDL) initiative is the most ambitious and comprehensive effort to date to deliver educational content on the Civil Rights Movement via the Web." This study from The Center for Economic and Policy Research covers the years 1979-2007. From 1983 to 2007, unionization rates among African Americans dropped from 31.7 to 15.7 per cent.

The Papers of (SCLC)the Southern Christian Leadership Conference Now Reside at Emory University
Emory University Library announced today that the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), a civil rights organization co-founded in 1957 by Martin Luther King, Jr.and other African American leaders has placed its papers in the care of Emory's Manuscript, Archives and Rare Books Library. Included in the archive are correspondence, press releases, speeches, membership records, clippings, photographs, audio cassette tapes and video tapes among other items.

The United States Minority Population Tops 100 Million
The Census Bureau reported today that the United States' minority population is rapidly increasing. Hispanics remain the largest minority group with 44.3 million as of July 1, 2006. Blacks are the second largest minority with a total of 40.2 million in 2006.

The Washington Post Newspaper in the June 4th Sunday edition revealed its latest findings on Black men. The information was gathered through a survey of 2,864 people including a sample of 1,384 Black men.
