The University Library strives to acquire and purchase access to library materials in multiple formats to support Georgia State University's undergraduate and graduate academic programs and the research and teaching needs of its faculty, staff and students.

Each academic department is assigned a subject specialist liaison librarian who is responsible for selecting materials and developing collections in that discipline.  Liaisons, in consultation with teaching faculty, select appropriate materials for the library collections through the use of approval plans, reviews in library and scholarly journals, vendor notifications of publications, and departmental requests.  Teaching faculty are encouraged to suggest materials for purchase through their liaison librarian or departmental library liaison.  Other members of the community are encouraged to leave suggestions at the Reference Desk during Library hours or submit a Purchase Request form.  Library liaisons review all items suggested for inclusion in the collection to insure they adhere to library collection guidelines and policies.

We invite you to read the Library's general collection development policy and the subject/discipline specific collection development policies and encourage you to participate in shaping the Library's collections.
