About the Learning Commons
The Learning Commons at Georgia State University
What Is the Learning Commons? The Learning Commons at Georgia State University is the library’s answer to the changing informational and technological needs of today’s students. In addition to providing traditional library services, the Learning Commons integrates technological and instructional elements typically found outside the library, including technology, ESL, and, in the future, writing assistance. The purpose of this integration is to
- Provide the student with a comprehensive learning space in which he or she can research, analyze, and process information into a presentable format, and
- Create a tighter bond between the library and the rest of the university, and ultimately, a seamless learning environment that promotes self-direction in learning.
The Learning Commons at GSU is part of the greater Library Transformation.
