Christian Steinmetz

Who Am I?

I am Georgia State University Library's Creative Manager.

Personal Information:

I have a B.A. in Communications from the University of New Hampshire and a M.A. in Communications from Georgia State University. My focus was in political rhetoric, national identity and their relationship with the medium of comic books. Some academic work I have written includes:

  • Steinmetz, Christian. From Black Flags To No Flags: Punk's Noble/Savage Resistance To Presidential Constructions of National Identity. Paper presentation at the Southern States Communication Association, April 4 2008, Savannah, GA.
  • Steinmetz, Christian. A Genealogy of Absence and Evil: Tracing the Nation's Borders With Captain America. Thesis (M.A.), August 2008, Georgia State University.

Professionally, I have been doing graphic design for almost 10 years. I have produced work for ad agencies, book publishers, political candidates and universities. My favorite designers are Chip Kidd, Paul Pope, Brian Wood, Peter Saville and Seldon Hunt.

My interests include: ferrets, comic books and hiking. I play video games too much for my own good.
