Who Am I?
I am Head of the Government Documents Processing Unit (GDPU), which processes and manages the University Library's Government Documents Collection. U.S. Government Documents are received as part of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) through the Government Printing Office (GPO). Each depository library is required to maintain piece-level check-in records for depository receipts, containing SuDocs #, title, holdings, format, and location. The GDPU receives shipments, physically processes all formats of the actual documents, and manages (update, edit, create, delete) Voyager records for documents. I work with the FDLP Regional Librarian for Georgia, other government documents employees state and nation wide, as well as University Library Cataloging, Systems, and public service employees to manage the government documents collection. Also, I review government documents to determine appropriate handling for tangible and online formats, and, if necessary, route them to other units for processing into other Library collections.
