The purpose of the collection is to support the research and professional needs of the faculty and staff of  The University Library.

General Collection Guidelines

  1. Languages: English is the language of collection emphasis.
  2. Treatment of subject: Research and postgraduate materials are of primary importance. Selective purchase of how-to-do-it materials.
  3. Types of materials: Monographs, periodicals, and some audiovisuals.
  4. Date of publication: Primarily current imprints will be selected.

Conspectus Collecting Levels by Subject Subdivision

  1. Libraries and Library Science: Includes the areas of reference, cataloging, acquisitions, serials, collection development, library technology, special collections, rare materials, archives, preservation, circulation, shelving, and storage. Collecting Level 3C.
  2. Information Science and Technology. Collecting Level 3A.
