ID Card
A photo ID must be presented at the Circulation desk in order to check out materials. Graduate students and Graduate Assistants must obtain a Graduate Student Panthercard. Part-time Instructors must present a Part-time Instructor Panthercard and a current Part-time Instructor Semester card when updating for the semester. Faculty Guests must present a Faculty Guest Special Privilege card and a photo ID.
Due Date
The due date for regularly circulating The University Library materials is the first day of the next semester (unless an item is recalled). For example: materials checked out during Fall Semester are due the first day of Spring Semester. This does not include media materials, browsing books, or periodicals. Information regarding borrowing policies of these materials may be obtained at the Circulation desks.
| Materials must be renewed for the next semester or returned to the Circulation desk by the due date or fines will accrue at the rate of $.25 per item per day. Fines of $10.00or One Overdue Item will block library privileges. |
Periodical Checkouts
Periodicals may be checked out for two hours by Graduate students, Part-time Instructors, and Faculty Guests. Library privileges are blocked if the periodicals are not returned by the end of the two-hour check out period.
Recalls
All patrons are guaranteed a 28 day loan period. Items due on the first day of the next semester are subject to recall 28 days from the date of check out. If a charged item is requested by another patron, the item's due date is shortened. A recall notice with the new, shortened due date is sent to the patron who currently has the item checked out. Once a recalled item becomes overdue, the item must be returned by the new due date or fines will accrue at the rate of $.25 per item per day and library privileges will be blocked.
Updating for the Next Semester
Each semester the patron's library status must be updated or borrowing privileges will expire the last day of the semester break.
Renewals
As soon as the patron's status has been updated and all blocks have been cleared, materials may be renewed online before or on the due date. Regularly circulating materials may be renewed online a maximum of two times. Media materials may be renewed online once. For assistance with online renewals call 404-413-2800. Problems with online renewals must be resolved before or on the due date or fines will accrue and library privileges will be blocked.
