Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the process by which a library requests materials from and/or supplies materials to another library. The purpose of interlibrary loan is to obtain, upon request of a library user, materials not available in the user’s local library. Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States
Georgia State University Library Interlibrary Loan services are available only to our currently enrolled students, faculty and staff. Library accounts must be in good standing. Other library users should contact their primary academic, public or corporate library for interlibrary loan services.
ILLiad is the electronic system you use to request an item through Interlibrary Loan. The name ILLiad is an acronym for InterLibrary Loan internet accessible database.
On August 11, library barcode numbers were replaced with a new seven character ID, a letter followed by six randomly generated numbers. This is your new Library ID.
First time ILLiad users should log in and register using your new Library ID.
Go to <http://webdb.gsu.edu/find> to look up your Library ID.
ILLiad users currently registered with the old 20785... barcode can continue to log in to ILLiad with that number. Alternately, you can register for a new ILLiad account using your new Library ID. If you do this and want the new account merged with your original ILLiad account, contact the Interlibrary Loan Office at libill@langate.gsu.edu or (404) 413-2790.

How is ILLiad better than our previous ILL Process?
May I still submit ILL requests on paper forms?
The University Library will no longer accept ILL requests on paper forms after the implementation of ILLiad.
Why do I need to enter my library ID to use ILLiad?
Your library ID allows us to give you access to information about your interlibrary loan requests.
What Web browser should I use?
You need a Web browser that can handle forms, tables, and, preferably, one that can handle frames. We recommend either Firefox 2.0 or greater, or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater.
How can I use ILLiad if I don't have web access from my computer?
Computers with Web clients are available for use in the Georgia State University Library, the Alpharetta Center Library, and computer labs on the downtown campus and on the Alpharetta Center campus.
Is security a problem if I use a public workstation?
Not if you use proper procedures. Web browsers cache information and create a history file on the local workstation. This allows a subsequent user of the workstation to access the system under your name using the browser's Back button to recall a page from the cache, or by finding a page with your personal information in the browser's history file. If you are concerned about the security of your interlibrary loan requests, you can take the following steps:
Will I see all my older requests when I look at my request history?
Only those requests submitted since the University Library implemented ILLiad will be available in your request history. Periodically ILL will purge old records from ILLiad, but our policy is to keep requests online for several years in order to comply with record keeping requirements of the copyright law.
Many libraries ship photocopies of articles to ILL in electronic format rather than paper copies. If we receive them in electronic format we are then able to post these articles to a secure password protected website in PDF format (Adobe's Portable Document Format) for your convenience. If you don't already have an Adobe PDF reader, you can download a free reader at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
Whom do I contact if I have problems with or questions about ILLiad?
Problems or Interlibrary Loan Questions: Interlibrary Loan at 404 413-2790 or e-mail to libill@langate.gsu.edu
Why does my browser say that you're sending a cookie? What's in it?
The Active Server Pages technology that ILLiad uses to provide live reporting for the web sends a Session ID to be stored on your machine. You can refuse this cookie and still be able to use the ILL web pages and ILLiad without any problems.
