Southern Labor Archives, Georgia State University
The SLA is the official repository of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers materials. Trained archivists here welcome your questions about IAM archival holdings at the SLA, as well as inquiries concerning union records you might be keeping now.

W. J. Usery, Jr.
William Usery joined the I.A.M. in 195 and served the Cocoa Beach / Cape Kennedy, Florida area from the late 1950's to 1969. Known for his arbitration skills, he eventually was appointed to high positions in the Department of Labor and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services. The Usery Papers are a part of the Southern Labor Archives in Georgia State University's Special Collections.

Tamiment Institute Library & Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives
This "unique center for scholarly research on labor history, and the history of socialist, anarchist, communist and other radical political movements" also houses the editorial offices of Labor History, a journal enjoyed by scholars which has great appeal for union members as well. The Tamiment Institute and Wagner Archives encourage site visitors to contact them concerning the keeping of "non-current" [archival] union records.

Repositories of Primary Sources
This site list of over 2500 web addresses describing holdings of manuscripts, archives, rare books, historical photographs, and other primary sources. Including the United States, Canadian, Mexican, Central and South American and other Caribbean, European, Asian, and African countries' repositories, on-line visitors can search geographically for information. Look for local records in your state's listed repositories and amaze your union brothers and sisters by how rapidly you can find out who has what.

State Archives Referral
"Secretary of State" [for Georgia] might be the banner on this site, but it is a comprehensive link to state archives web addresses, phone numbers plus "snail mail" information. Also accessible from this site are many international "hot links."

National Archives and Records Administration (US)
This site includes information about the National Archives and its holdings, and a link to the NARA Archival Information Locator (NAIL), a searchable database of NARA's holdings across the country. NARA has a very savvy site, and the people there are known for their quick response time via e-mail, phone, or letter.
