 Historical Note

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local Lodge 846 was located in Washington, D.C. Its members were a part of the Engraved Steel Plate Finisher's Association. This local no longer exists.

 Scope and Content of the Records

The collection consists of ledger books (minutes, cash book, membership rolls and dues). The minutes range from 1914-1956, with no gaps in years. The cash book are from 1940-1956, and overlap each other from 1946-1955. The membership rolls ad dues ledgers range from 1913-1956 with no gaps.

The minutes series consists of seven minute ledgers arranged in chronological order. The ledgers show the activities of Local 846 as well as how some finances were handled.

The membership rolls and dues ledgers of Local Lodge 846 consist of two ledger books. Lists of members in alphabetical order are in the front part of each ledger. The second part of each ledger has a record of if each member paid their dues, as well as comments about that members service (i.e., retired, scab, etc.).
