Library Transformation Updates
Book move complete
All books are in their permanent locations, and we now have plenty of room to grow. Range finders are in progress.
The final phase of the project, returning the pre-1975 bound periodicals to onsite storage, will commence in late February, and be complete by the end of March.

Final General Collection Book Move
The library General Collection is going to be moved into its long-term location sometime towards the end of this year.
We have contracted with a company that specializes in rationalizing library collection layout. They will be looking at the size and growth rates of the various call number areas, as well as the type of books in each call number. They will produce a new layout that will allow for at least 10 years of growth room.
Once we have the layout, we will be moving all of the books into their new, permanent locations, most likely over the winter break.
Library North Entrance Closed, Building Remains Open
Beginning on Monday, August 27, 2007, the main entrance area of Library North will close. The Library North building will remain open as only the entrance itself will be closed. All services and resources currently housed on the first floor will remain available on this floor. Patrons and visitors are asked to use the Library South entrance exclusively to gain access to the library. Access to Library North is available by crossing the links on the second and third floors.
The purpose of this entrance closure is to replace the current glass entrance area on the first and second floors of Library North.
This entrance will re-open in the middle of October.

The Georgia State University Library Transformation is a comprehensive renovation of two library buildings at the very heart of campus. The project will provide easier access to more resources, the newest technology and improved services, a variety of study spaces, and an information commons and learning commons.
The Library Transformation’s anticipated completion date is October 2007. The projected project schedule provides a timeline for the work. Please consult this schedule to find out what’s transforming when and follow our progress. In addition, you may want to peruse updates and photos of the transformation as it occurs.
